Dar ran Dar ran

Hello
Here we go my first post so please no spelling police
I am from sunny Cumbria love Land Rovers and have a thing for Freelanders
I have had 4 and to be honest I have been extremely lucky with them no big problems
I have finally got the one I am planning on keeping but it’s giving me sleepless nights!
I bought a new 3 door sport on a 04 and ran it for 4 years but had to sell it to fund a child
Now he’s doing his own thing I have bought a 56 sport but it’s killing me
It runs starts and drives without issues no smoke plenty of power it as had 4 good injectors all tested excellent egr ok had filters and service. But it as a intermittent vibration/ misfire ? At low speed and high not all the time but definitely get worse sometimes a slight loss of power but will still gain speed . I would definitely thought it was on the prop but it’s seems ok And would it not be more consistent?
I have little funds to waste on parts but I could do with sorting it out
Will a misfire feel like vibration?
Any help appreciated

Welcome back to the freelander, I don't know you from adam, so if any of my suggestions are beyond you I appologise, but I'm assuming you are able and willing to have a go at some work on the car? Go on Ebay, buy a cheap bluetooth OBD2 faultcode reader, and download a program called Torque on your phone. After you pair the bluetooth OBD2 to your phone, you'll be able to read faultcodes andsome live informatio from your freelanders ECU's. Essentially you are looking for any faultcodes, and injector trim. I suspect the issue stems from the vacum hoses that are connevted to the actuator on the turbo. If you order 4mm silicone vacum hose, probably about three meters of it, and replace the cotton braided rubbber hose with the new silicone hose, and deal with any faultcodes, I think you shold have a happy freelander again. If the silicon vacuum hose and the faultcode whatsit don't solve your problems, let us know what faultcodes are thrown up and we'll be happy to help.

Hi thanks for taking time to help
It’s showing zero faults
Not sure if live faults will show up ? If they do I will definitely give it go

it’s actually a dry day to day so I am taking the prop off and looking at the rear driveshafts
I am confused as the locals think its a misfire but when it happens it feels mechanical
But mechanical don’t really do on and then off the way this fault seems to be so it makes sense to take it off to eliminate it
Do do you think it could be to do with the injector wiring or the pressure sensor wiring
Thanks

If its misfired atall it should have some sort of record of the misfire in the ECU hence me saying hit it with a faultcode reader.

I had a accident at work in October and I am just back at work so don’t fancy laying on the cold damp concrete drive to take the prop off So I took it in to garage to get it removed and they had it all day and when I picked it up they said it’s a miss not a problem with the prop ? the person is trustworthy but I asked him to remove it
Mostly to eliminate the prop and now still not sure, they definitely check for codes and they seemed surprised none on
I am thinking it’s the wires braking down on the fuel pressure sender and or injector harness ?
When it’s playing up it definitely feels mechanical but it’s not all the time and when it drives it drives well that’s why I think it could be electrical
I took the end off the sender today and wd40 over the connector and it’s better but still doing it !the sender looks clean but definitely not new
Never had a light even flash on the dash always starts hot or cold zero smoke?

I've had a bad missfire recently which got worse and worse as time went on. It felt quite "mechanical" though and I thought an injector had siezed. It turned out to be a dodgy connection on the fuel rail pressure sensor harness.

I am leaning toward that
Just found one for £64
Did you change the sender or just the cable?
I will be heartbroken if it’s not that
Thanks very much for your reply it’s a big help

I swapped the connector on mine. It seems to have done the job. I think doing the harness is sensible though.

It’s a plan I will get it ordered tomorrow and hopefully a dry weekend to come I get it on it looks a simple job just get the pins out look fiddly did you do your own ?

Thanks for your help I appreciate it
Just ordered one
I have to apologise. It's the wrong one. I went to make my temporary repair permanent today by fitting the plug and it's different! The pins are a different shape. I'm going to try and locate the correct one. Really sorry.

Ha
I might just get the upgrade
But a bit concerned the facelift as different wiring in the E box ( seen it in a post ? )

That superseal connector I mentioned came from a post by @Nodge68 in a previous thread about this very same thing... Can @Nodge68 confirm this one actually fits?

I'm thinking if he can confirm he has previously fitted this plug in this context we at least know the one linked to below will fit and might fix the freelandres of both @Dar ran Dar ran & @kernowsvenski ?

I hope y'all don't mind me @ pinging you'se (I'm Scottish - its a word up here) but I'm just trying to grab the attentions of the people that seem to know and the people that need to know.

Without an image of the pins on the three core version I can't tell from the pic but it doesn't look right to me. I've emailed RoverRon to see if they can supply the right one. I'll let you know when I hear back.

That is a genius idea! He must be able to source them to make up the harness for the synergy!
