just got a flat in my freelander 2003 and i cant get the wheel nut off it seems to be a different size nut to the brace and it has two grooves cut in the nut any suggestions please ?

Have you got the locking wheelnut adapter somewhere in the vehicle?

Are you stuck at the side of the road?

If your not stuck at the side of the road. Get a socket set. Find the size nearest but smaller than the nut, whack it on with a hammer and slowly remove it.
Be Warned, this will destroy the socket and nut and you only get one chance.

Have you actually looked for the nut remover? Glove box? center console? door pockets? hair straightner storage cupboard?

so, where are you brian ? perhaps someone local can help you.

there are 4 wheel nuts and one locking wheel nut, there is a cover which goes over the locking wheel nut so it looks like one of the normal nuts, but is a slightly different size so the brace doesn't fit.

remove the cover then you will see the locking wheel nut.

the special wheel nut key is usually in the toolbox which comes with every freelander, and can be found in the cubby hole in the boot.

good luck.

How about contact the previous owner and ask if they still have the key? I did that when I couldn't find the one for my disco and she told me where in the car it was hidden

thanks i've parked it up off road, why did i buy this heap of **** !!! fookin fumin !!

Sorry to sound so blunt here, but as you dont even know what a locking wheel nut is I dont really think you are allowed to be judgemental? :whoosh:
