Hi all

Well, it seems that so many freelanders has this problem but no one seems to ever get to the bottom of this. I am not sure if this can be many problems or just one.

Any way. I am from south africa but moved to england a few years ago and always has land rovers. From the series one to the freelander. I have now got myself Freelander V6 with an auto box.

I have had no problems with it and has really been good so far. Well about 2 months ago I start feeling a vibration and steering wobble under power (only when I am under acceleration) When I let go of the juice it stop. now vibration nothing. I have read some forum and even came across new freelander doing this but no one seems to know what this cause.

What I have check so far and what it is not.

It is not the tires I because it is only under acceleration when it vibrates.
I have removed the prop so it is in the front only.

So the only thing what will cause this must be torque related but where do i start.

No that I have the prop off I will put the front on axle stand and run it. maybe I will see what can cause this. Even the landie garages does not have an idea.

If any can give me some ideas it would be great.

Thanks guys

Hi All

Well this has surely got me going and here is what I have done so far.

I took the landie for tracking. I figured that if there is any movement on the front suspension they or the machine will pick it up. Well it turned out that track rod ends needed replacing and went to eurocar parts end got two new ones. So fitted them and took it out for a test drive. Well, to put it nicely I was not very happy as the shake/vibration was still there.

The following weekend I jacked up the front and put axel stands under it to support it. I ran the engine in gear at about 70 and more to see if there was any vibration. But nothing. But noticed that there was allot of play in the lower tie mount.

I fitted the propshaft then took it out for a test drive and the viberation has almost stop. There is just a tiny vibration under hard acceleration but I reckon a new mount should sort it out.

Will keep you guys up to date

Hi there. My TD4 is currently experiencing the same or similar problem. Did U replace this lower Tie Mount & did it cure the problem? I still have vibration even with propshaft removed. Would appreciate help, please

Mine had such a problem. Vibration only under acceleration. The cause was a worn inner CV joint. I had to change the drive shaft (RH).
