Hi All,
When I started the freelander td4 over the last few days, the engine revs were very slugish, as if the engine strugled to stay running, this even happens when the engine is warm. I also noticed there is a buff of smoke from the exhaust after i started the engine more so when cold is this nonmal?
Many Thanks

Hi, I suspect you need to investigate whether your glow plugs are all lighting up. If one or two have failed then a rough cold start is what you will experience.

Mods. Please can we move this into the main Freelander forum. The post will get better visibility then.

Try putting injector cleaner in with the fuel and check your air filter is clean. The smoke when you start the engine is normal or most likely just condensation.

But this is the new engine section for engine related stuff.

True, but it ain't done properly is it. The FL1 has three lumps and there is only one section for them all, where as the other LRs have got a forum for each lump type.

We really only need one section for the K-series, the L-series being bombproof and the td4 is pretty reliable.:)

Wot about the V6? Is that solid too? Nahh!! Lots to be written about that too...
:nothingtoadd: I must be nice to noobs. I must be nice to noobs. I must be nice to noobs. I must be nice to noobs. I must be nice to noobs. I must be nice to noobs. I must be nice to noobs. I must be nice to noobs. I must be nice to noobs.

Have you tried replacing the fuel rail pressure sensor? Very common fault :)

Hi. Is the Common Rail sensor , also called the Fuel Rail Pressure sensor?

My dad broke down twice today in the TD4. Once outside Landrobber dealers (how ironic) and then in the middle of a traffic jam and had to call the AA out
as it refused to start.

The AA guy pulled out then pushed back in the Common Rail Sensor (little black plastic plug with wires on) and thankfully this got him home!

Thank you.
