Hi all
I have a problem with the the wifes '99 oil burner freeloader remote alarm.
Up until recently the remote alarm was working fine until one day it wasn't. She was getting the beeps so signal low keyfob batteries so I changed the batteries in the fob then things started going down hill. Previously, before I changed the battery she could lock/unlock the car from outer space it was that good.(and I swear she lives there most of time). After changing the bats it would lock/unlock some of the time, mostly after a few attempts and progressivly got worse until the remote didn't work at all.
Summising that we needed a new remote i bought 2 from the internet and sent my ecu to be programmed with the 2 new key fobs (no complaints about the company that did this). Installed the ecu and synced the keyfobs and all was well - not as good range as the old one but working none the less. Then they started getting worse until I couldn't lock/unlock the car from the outside. I can get in using the key but the remotes will only lock/unlock and immobilise the car if I press the buttons with the remote held right next to the speedo or instrument cluster. Not under the dash or above or near the ignition switch, just right next to the instrument cluster. There are no beeps of any kind.
Any suggestions - errr, preferably not involving swan vestas, combustable material or dynamite ?

Cheers

Carl

Check the key fob battery voltage they might be old batteries. Though you should be getting the low battery beeps.

Yes. . . .double check your fob batt first,if that is ok then re-sync the system. . . . .the procedure is in this forum somewere, try search :)
