Help me please.

A couple of months ago i purchased a 2002 2.5 v6 freelander. The rear window has been fine when i have pressed the button for it to go up and down.

Yesterday i put the dog in the boot, pressed the button for the rear window to go down a little to give the dog some air and the window decided to go halfway down then back up a bit. If i press the button for it to go up it will work OK if i shut the window completely. If i try stopping it before it reaches the top in goes into its own world and goes down a bit again.

This is bloody annoying as at the moment it looks like i can have the window shut or fully open.

This isn't a recalibration problem is it?

Luckily i tried opening the window before driving off otherwise i reckon there would have been a good chance my dog will have jumped out the window as it was her first time in the back.

this is normal with the windows, the way to get the window to stop partially open is to stop it on the down movement. Once you start to raise the window it has to go all the way to the top or else it drops down again.

Hi i am aware that is the how you stop the window but the window should not shoot back up again then shoot down even further, even i know that and i am no mechanic.

The window is working totally different to how it was

sorry read your problem wrong, you can try to recalibrate by following this
1. Disarm the anti-theft alarm system.
2. Disconnect the vehicle battery.
3. Wait 5 seconds.
4. Reconnect the vehicle battery.
5. The CCU will now drive the tail door window to the fully lowered position.
6. Turn the ignition switch to the 'ignition' position.
7. Press and hold the tail door window switch in the 'Up' position until the window has reached the fully closed position.
8. The tail door window should now be calibrated. If calibration has failed, a warning buzzer will sound.

I was thinking of doing this but wasn't 100% sure whether it would make much difference as the window seems to do its jobs of dropping slightly when i want to open the rear door.

Does doing this calibration help sort the window out in general? i thought that maybe it was just for when the window doesn't drop when the door is opened?

Thanks for info
