HI all, can anyone tell me if it is normal to have a noticable 'low drone' sound from the back axle? Quite irritating above 55mph. Thanks! Russ

Sounds more like a wheel bearing. Whats the mileage on your vehicle??
at 110,000 mine had a similar noise - turned out to be a wheel bearing after I had changed the diff!!
Try jacking up the rear and turning the rear wheels. If you hear a slight grinding noise - suspect the bearings.

Thanks for that...Its done 81,000 miles. I'll get the bearings checked tomorrow. Cheers.
