Well i,m back again with this nightmare of a Freelander .
After fitting a new Diesel pump ,new injectors ,new MAS air flow unit, removing the EGR valve i,m still having problems .
50% of the time the car will fire up and run fine but the other 50% of the time the car fires up lumpy and emits large amounts of cloudy diesel smoke , if you turn the engine off and mess around turning the ignition ON/OFF ON/OFF ON/OFF it will fire up fine again and run perfectly .
I have never come across this before i,m suspecting some type of immobiliser fault there are no faull codes coming up on my scanner so can't pin point the exact problem.
I,d appreciate any advise ..

You sure your ignition switch ain't knacked? Its a known fault and as the ECU draws power through it then an intermittent supply might be the problem.

Hello the ignition switch is a possibility i suppose you say it,s a known problem were the symptoms of my car the same as the others ??

Well, the associated problems are instrumentation failure and dim instrument warning lights. I've had my Hippo cutout due to a dodgy ignition switch. Worth a check.

Bikerblue 11,

My landrover is a Freelander TD4 2006 model diesel and it seems to have developed the same problem as yours. Did you ever manage to solve your problem or find out what caused it?
