Well i,m back again with this nightmare of a Freelander .
After fitting a new Diesel pump ,new injectors ,new MAS air flow unit, removing the EGR valve i,m still having problems .
50% of the time the car will fire up and run fine but the other 50% of the time the car fires up lumpy and emits large amounts of cloudy diesel smoke , if you turn the engine off and mess around turning the ignition ON/OFF ON/OFF ON/OFF it will fire up fine again and run perfectly .
I have never come across this before i,m suspecting some type of immobiliser fault there are no faull codes coming up on my scanner so can't pin point the exact problem.
I,d appreciate any advise ..

Glowplugs would be a good suggestion but it,s more than that i have had the engine running in my workshop for 3 hours without it missing a beat then i turn it off and try to restart it and it suddenly goes lumpy and emmits huge amounts of smoke then you can turn the key off and on and it will fire up perfect.

If you post in the Freelander section, you might get a better reply quicker. I'm clutching at straws :)

There might also be a "cold start" problem thats fixable.

If it starts, then it's not going to be the immobiliser. Lots of info in the Freelander section.

Cheers

Just had the car connected to Landrover testbook and no faults found . I have noticed that when the problem occurs if you very quickly flick the ignition switch on and off with the engine idling and smoking it cures the fault .

PLEASE PLEASE I NEED HELP
