I guess this has been asked many times but what engine can I fit into my freelander, I have a 3door 1800 gs 2001 model, I want to tow a caravan this summer, and have been told my engine is not up to this job, as I like my freelander I would rather swop the engine.

many thanks

cant find the thread ,but MHM reckoned some guy could fit a T series rover engine in there.
I myself know nowt about it.

edit:I dont think many people frequent the freelander engine page.Might be better to post in the main freelander page, imho.

the Gaylanders use the same (sic) PG1 gearbox as the T series (but without the LSD). My understanding is that you need to change the input shaft to match the T series or possibly the bell housing.
Dont forget the ecu and wiring.
Or use the 220 box with Torsen LSD - but only 2wd - or can yu fit an IRD to it?

keep your box and change the bell housing or get an l series box which marries onto 220 lump

Hi

I know nothing about engine's but I need to replace my engine in Freeland 1.8 gs 16V but I understand that there were 2 types for this year (2001) coil or distributor cap is there anywhere I can go to find out what engine is in mine as I have no manufactures book.

Can I get this info from freelander themselves if I give my registration?????
