Hi
I need some help, I have a freelander 1.8 Petrol, year 99. The headgasket has gone twice during the last three months and the head skimmed twice. Since, each time after driving it, the coolant pipes keep blowing, whether its the pipe coming out from the radiator, near the thermostat and recently the one from the coolant tank. The oil in the engine seems to mix with water but not in the coolant tank, no oil present. Note that the temperature sensor didn't go up each time one of the pipe blew, leaking all the water out, which obviously over heated the engine. Could anyone advice what might be the problem? is it the headgasket again?
 
and if the coolant sensor isn't surrounded by water it can't give the correct signal so any air in the system/water loss can affect its response. just like your investments it can go down as well as up....
 
is the thermastat block or not working that a hell of presure to be blowing the pipes I would guess that there is something wrong with your cylinder head and it is putting compresion into your engin did you have a good firm to do it and scimmed twice well you are risking it better to source another head

If oil and water mix in the engine but not in the coolant tank it sounds very much like the coolant is not circulating!

Water pump, blockage or seized shut thermostat.

Thanx will check the thermostat first. I am from Mauritius and unfortunately, we do not have specialist land rover workshop here, thus need to rely on the regular mechanic to do the job. We did do a radiator flush and check the water pump. If nothing works, I am honestly thinking of getting a recondition complete engine from UK so at least, will have peace of mind for another 40-60 kmiles hopefully. anyone one you can recommend for the recondition engine? Did almost 170,000 km with the old engine which is not bad at all!
 
After the first HGF, he flushed the radiator and confirm that water was flowing through. Got another mechanic who came and confirm that its another HGF with oil in engine and oil particle in the water tank. The engine also stalled when turn on, so its the most probable cause to him. So only option, is to get a new recondition engine. Anyone that can be recommended?
