When accelerating in any gear my freelander loses power between 2500 - 3000 rpm and will not go above 3200rpm, I renewed the injector overflow pipes a couple of weeks ago because one of them burst. Today I have checked the fuel lines and primed the fuel lines according to my haynes manual but it hasn't fixed it, when turning on the ignition there is a clicking sound coming from the fuel pump on the engine and this sound continues even when I am sqashing the priming bubble (is this normal).
Apart from this the engine ticks over and runs ok, it will rev above this range when standing still.
Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Hi there. The noise from the fuel pump when the ignition is on is perfectly normal.
I would reacon you're loosing boost pressure. Firsly when you're struggling to get the revs up is there a hissing sound noticeable. If so then check your induction hoses. Turbo to intercooler and intercooler to manifold (This one splits, its a known issue). Let us know what you find. Good luck, Dave

Thanks Dave,

I'll check this out on Thur as I am On 12hr shifts, will let you know how I get on

Hi Dave,

This now sorted. I had a good look around the engine and when i revved it up the induction pipe connected between the air filter and the turbo partially collapsed, this was caused by a piece of bubble wrap being caught in the air intake.

Thanks anyway
Ian

Crickey, I'd never heard of that one before. :confused2:

However, it would indeed explain the problem. :D

Glad to hear your fixed!!

Happy Hippo-ing. :D:D:D

This was something i would never have guessed, all i could think of was pound signs and different things that could be at fault and pricing parts to see how much it was going to cost (megabucks) but, all sorted i just hope with the restriction it hasn't damaged the internal seals on the turbo.

but hey thanks again for replying and thank landrover for installing a grill on the air intake, sorry i haven't replied earlier.

Just like to mention i saw a G4 challenge Discovery 3 today and i am sure it was in Landrover International Mag, it had a very distinct number plate.

Thanks for all your help and if in the future i have another prob i will not hessitate to post a thread.

Kind Regards
Ian
