Hi, my son's Freelander 2004 has rain hood, double sun roof, in decent condition but head gasket has blown, purchased in January 2023 for £1,750 had a lot of trouble with garage basically ripping me off, as im recently widowed I am not able to take it further so thought I would just sell for parts, im in Gloucester if anyone is interested in the doors the seats etc.

I completely understand your issue - my experience is selling for parts with people coming round, taking bits off, making a mess and then having to dispose of a shell possibly with no wheels by then, is more stressful.

thank you for advice, your right i dont want to be left with a shell to get rid of, ive got a guy wants to buy the rain hood this sunday, i might let him have it and then get scrap man to take landy away, sigh. shame as its got double sun roofs over passenger and driver, the doors and seats and spare wheel, wheels etc all ok

thank you for the rain hood advice, it has side windows. ive seen new ones advertised for £300/400. The proposed buyer offered me £50. I said £75.
I'd put the whole vehicle up for sale as spares or repairs. If the body is in good condition, then it'll make decent money, and you won't have the hassle of getting rid of the bits nobody wants. I'd put it up for sale for £1k spares or repairs, and see what interest you get.
To an educated DIYer, a 1.8 head gasket is an easy and cheap job to do, so there is a market for such a vehicle.
I'd be tempted myself, if it wasn't so far away.
