Hello everyone,

My car has decided to develop a fault its a Freelander 2 TD4 Manual (New Landover clutch and recon gearbox from Bells 18 months ago) and its Jumping out of gear on the Motorway, Only happens in 6th gear.

Has anyone come across this before?

Thanks

Sounds like a decent on 6th has failed, possibly a broken spring. I'd expect a reconditioned box to last more than 18 months TBH.

There was a big twanging spring sound last week but I assumed it was one of the handbrake springs I installed coming off

I have decided to just us 5th as it snatch’s with a small bang in 6th. I only drive a few miles on the motorway which I can live with, I am just going to run it into the ground with minimal repair to keep it going and save my money for when it gets scrapped and just buy a better one

That would be a shame.
It’s worth a little exploration under the gear stick at least - it may be an easy fix.

i wont be using it for nearly a month now and I am wondering if it’s as simple as a worn linkage bush. I need to rule out anything simple first I guess

I did read this but he has an auto box not a manual
