Anyone come across a repair kit for a freelander 2 powerfold mirror? They seem common for freelander 1 but can't find one for mine.

Yer would be betterer to ask int Freelander section
What's up with it? Won't fold?
works intermittently but occasionally fails with the sound of grinding gears. There's a repair kit available for the freelander one but not my freelander 2

Hi, never found a kit. The mirror gear grinding stopped of its own accord after about a week, and although both mirrors would fold on locking neither ever dipped down again on reversing like they used to. Ended up selling the car so sorry can't be of further help

also remembered while the problem occured I always waited until they have finished grinding before leaving the car, once the damn noise went on for several minutes and was sure it would bust.

Thanks for reply my problem is opposite to yours everything works but makes grinding noise when going out i have to grab it to stop it trying to open further, think I will have to live with it not going to pay £300 plus for new one

You can have the power fold turned off, so no more grinding. You need to replace the mirror, or disable power fold before the mirror fails to lock in the out position altogether.
However wouldn't be easier to simply replace the mirror? Surely spending a couple of hundred £ on a mirror is worth the money on a vehicle worth several thousand £££.

Hi, do you know how to turn the fold mechanism off? My mirror mechanism is broken and I'd rather just leave the mirrors open.
I'm told it's a dealer issue, but maybe not..

Hi, do you know how to turn the fold mechanism off?

You need a diagnostic tool that can alter the CCFs (Car Configuration Files). Basically you need access to JLR SDD, which can set up the vehicle to user's requirements. There are other diagnostic units which can alter CCFs too. The Gap Diagnostics IID BT will do it, and maybe a couple of other's, however none of them are cheap, so it's probably best to pay a to a dealer, or an LR independent with suitable equipment.
Personally I'd just replace the mirror, rather than paying to have the auto fold function disabled. I do have the ability to alter the CCFs, but I'd still replace the mirror, but I'm OCD with such things.
