Hi all new to this forum I have the following code on my code reader P0409-17 exhaust gas recirculating sensor A circuit it will not clear I am struggling as to what this is I have replaced egr and I am now not sure that I needed to
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thankyou

I have changed the egr valve with a new one where is the sensor fit the egr valve?
There isn't a separate EGR sensor, it's part of the feedback loop in the EGR valve.
What year is the vehicle, and does it have a DPF?

It is a 2.2 2014 Freelander 2 I was wondering if it could this be part of the problem

The vacuum actuator would normally come as an assembly with a new EGR valve. If it didn't, then it's the likely cause of the issue.
It'll need calibration using JLR SDD or other suitable diagnostic equipment.

Hi the egr is separate from this this part is on the egr cooler
It's bolted to the cooler, but it's the part of the EGR system that goes wrong. The valve on the end of the cooler is just a valve, so as long as the lever is free, there's nothing really that goes wrong with it. If the valve goes wrong, then it won't generate a code. The EGR actuator is the part that does generate a code is the part in the picture. It needs calibration when fitted, or it'll not run correctly, and will fail again soon.
