Hello there, new to this page so please be kind.

just purchased a Freelander 2 with a suspected wheel bearing issue. Had a loud binding noise, that stopped/ quietened down when turning. I’ve replaced the near side wheel bearing and knuckle to find that the noise is still there.

the noise appears to be coming from near side front. It’s a loud grinding/ binding noise that gets louder the faster you drive.

thanks in advance.

Mine did that last year, it was the wheel bearing, changed both and it went off.
But the front wheel drive has been known to fail.

Oh front well could be the TPU (transfer case) perhaps different tyres over time? The 4x4 is very sensible about tyres needs all four matching, will not forgive a part worn single replacement for MOT.

empty car park drive round in circles - assuming you are UK and nearside is left side - when you turn left it will load up the right wheel and if it is a wheel bearing it will get louder - likewise turn right and the noise become more faint.
