unalterable

Hi Everyone,

Brand new Landy owner here - bought my 2007 Freelander 2 second hand recently in Cyprus. In fantastic shape except:

1. The 2 key fobs have stopped working as remotes altogether. They both are still recognised in the ignition, but neither of them will work. They partially worked this morning, but now nothing. One of the fobs has a brand new battery in it from November / December so I doubt it's the battery. Only change is that I've used my Freelander to jump another old car we have a few times (unsure if that's messed up the electrics).

2. The tailgate occasionally registers as open, and sometimes the switch randomly activates, unlocking the boot. This means that on occasion, no matter how much I close every door of the car, it will often alarm when I used to lock it with the fob, as if a door were still open.

As I say, I'm slightly concerned that I've messed the electrics by jumping other old cars a few times. Can anyone help a struggling new owner?

Thank you!

Modern cars are sensitive to jump starting other cars, and being jump started themselves, so should be avoided.

I'd start by disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes, then see if anything changes.
