hello,

I have an issue with my Freelander 2 front passenger door I'm using the key fob and the other doors seem to be locking apart from that one. i have to lock the door from the inside. 2.2 diesel 13 plate.

could this be the actuator?

hope some one can shed some light on this. I would attempt to fix it myself but I'm not going to risk it I'm too heavy handed on these sort of things haha.

Very likely to be the latch / actuator assembly, the fix is to replace it

This.
Literally just done it last weekend!
Remove the exterior handle also… then remove the whole thing from the door and switch the cables onto a new actuator ‘on the bench’… much easier.
As it’s the front passenger door, it has the emergency key hole, which makes that handle slightly easier to remove. There is a t25 (IIRC) torx found through a small grommet in the side of the door - unscrew it 5.5 turns (don’t remove it fully!), then the lock assembly can be pulled out and you can slide the exterior handle out and back. Then just a screw from inside to remove, then unclip the ‘D’ bracket from the outside, that it screws into. Then from inside the door, remove it and the actuator as one.

The inside and actuator itself is fairly straight forward. Lower window a few inches first. Remove door panel (wires and a cable to disconnect from inside). Remove speaker. Tape window from above door (to stop it falling). Reach in and pull plastic window holders open whilst lifting window up until it clears… tape. Undo 10mm bolts and nuts holding window regulator in place, move it aside and into the door, out of the way. Pull electrical plug from actuator. Unscrew (3 t30 torx).

Take your time. It took me an hour to remove it all the first time.
