Sounds like cable moving the window up.and down has snapped and the CCU now doesn't know where the window glass is and so is bleeping.

It might push down a bit by hand to enable you to shut the door.

Pop inside door cover off, 4 screws and some pull off clips and then you will see what has gone wrong.

New cables or a new mech with cables are not expensive if it is this.

Alternatively, you could disconnect the battery and wait a few minutes and then reconnect, window should drop fully. BUT if cables are broken you are then left with a fully down window. Try gentle push downwards by hand first.

What ever you do - remove the inside cover on the door before closing it.

If you manage to close it, but then can't open it again, you'll be cursing if you don't.

I agree, you are almost certainly up for a new regulator (motor, wires and runners). Its a lot easier and more reliable fix than just replacing the wire. I found the wire a mensa test to replace and there are sensors in the motor that can fail.

I found replacing the regulator quite easy... a lot easier than I first thought. Its made easier if you can lower the glass (cut wires?) so that you can see the clamps on the glass. Be careful the glass doesn't drop and smash.
