Not sure if this is in the right section, apologies in advance if not.

I plan on buying an early Freelander (MY2000) 1.8 with a blown head gasket, my plan is to fit a 1.8T lump out of a ZT. My question (of many but they will come later) is this even possible with the standard ECU, remapped of course) or will I need a later ECU? Maybe a better question is, is it feasible to put the 1.8T lump into a 2000 W-Reg Freelander.

Thank you in advance

it has been done before. @Hippo is yo man.

It's been done in other cars with relative ease. The freelander shouldn't be any more difficult. Could you not use the ZT ecu, perhaps with a patch harness?

Have a search through the Freelander technical section. We have had chats about it before on several occasions over the years. Can't remember which members have tried it and how far they got.
