Wiil get pics at the weekend for anyone interested
Its rough and needs tlc, its been on the hard for at least 4 years its not shiny or white and aint no gin palace!
Steel hulled 27ft motor sailer, its been anti fouled some time ago and still has the masking tape on the line.
Single keel
Single engine BMC 1.5 derv
Owner either ill or to old cant remember details!

For someone after a project or a young couple after a cheap way into boating this has to be worth a look.

DOES NOT come with mooring
Crane on site I think 25/50 quid a lift
Club wants it gone and needs the space
Located River Medway Rochester

I'm sick that I would have nowhere to put it, that would be a dream project for me. Unfortunately my neighbors might not approve of it blocking the footpath.

@lynall is this still available? She has decided she is possibly on board with this as a project. If it is still available do you have any more details on the work needed?

I can ask Saturday, I did see some people looking at it the other weekend, I will try and get contact details.

Its a boat mate, image the issues of owning a Defender and triple it. Good luck and all who sail in her ;)

I often hear boat means bung on another thousand and so on, we are now about 8 years into boat ownership and dont really spend any money at all, just servicing/antifoul all diy and simple enough to do.
I think once you get into the bigger machines with twin truck engines and all the extra gear then thats when its starts getting silly.
Inboard single n/a diesel on shafts not relly much at all to go wrong.

Being a member of a club so you get discounted mooring rates makes a massive difference, in our case 2.5k versus 800 quid and this is what makes cheap boat ownership potentially expensive as one years mooring could be more than you paid for the boat.
Swinging mooring is one answer but then of course access becomes difficult.

I forgot to add fuel useage
Our last boat did 30 knots and at that speed burned 13 gallons per hour of petrol, river speed 6 knots ish 1 to 1.5 gallons per hour, so even driven slowly it wasnt cheap
Current boat n/a diesels burning between 1 and 1.5 litre (90ppl) per hour per engine at 5/6 knots, so 1.60 to 2.70bgp per hour versus 5 to 7.50bgp per hour on the old boat, go out for several hours and thats a massive difference cost wise.
Both relatilvey small boats, again once you go up in size be prepared for large fuel spend, many 40 foot boats at river speed might do 1mpg if you are lucky.

The ideal first boat needs to be single diesel with a planing hull and a hardtop so you can have some fun at speed, but these are very expensive to buy, so naturally people buy the petrol engined versions with canvas tops and stern drive as much cheaper, most dont keep them for more than a season or two before either sellling and giving up or going bigger with diesels on shafts and the much needed hardtop.

I think its going for scrap now, apparently theres going to be some more going as they have a tidy up and as other club memebrs get older and cant continue.
