Hi

I'm new to the forum but has anyone had any experience of Foxhills Defender Centre in Ottershaw, Surrey? I recently bought a 300tdi Defender 90 from them and am appalled at the Landy how the vehicle was sold and the dreadful service to try and sort the problems out. Am I the only one who has had this experience or has anyone else come across this crowd ?

Having paid a deposit and agreed to go and look at the Landy the guy then starts phoning and pressured me into paying for it to be delivered, to which I agreed. In hindsight,it was a stupid thing to do but I thought Foxhills Defender Centre was a reputable dealer. Every car is supposed to be sold with full 12 month MOT, full mechanical check and Service. The guy told me it they had replaced the timing belt and it was even to have had a full valet so I thought everything would be fine.

When it arrived the guy would not allow me to test drive it or even unload it until I'd paid, so I paid and the truck left quickly.

The MOT was only for 9 months, it has clearly not been serviced, the bolts on the timing cover have not been disturbed somthstmwas a lie.

Once I drive it the front diff whines so badly you can hardly hear yourself think. The heater motor was shot and keeps blowing fuses, half the lights didn't work and there were no door keys.

I immediately called the guy who disputed the problems but finally conceded to send replacement parts. After two weeks of phoning and texting nothing arrived.

I feel a bit stupid for trusting a supposedly reputable dealer. Has anyone else come across these con men? Also, if you've not - please be warned and avoid them like the plague.

Read the link from above, the man who wrote it is already reading your post. Go from there.

Did you HPI check it?

Cheers

So why did you buy it? Did you feel pressured?
I'm a bit embarrassed now I suppose but after I'd paid £350 (£250 deposit and £100 delivery) I didn't want to risk losing that and at first glance sat on the truck it didn't look too bad but the guy from Foxhills Defender Centre was very aggressive and pressurising on the phone and refused to allow it to be unloaded until I'd paid for it - so I did but as soon as it was unloaded the truck left quickly. It was later, that evening all the problems started.... BIG lesson learned... the hard way. Is it just me.

That's not good.
Don't let this experience put you off though, not all Landy sellers are so unscrupulous.

I'm sure they are not. I've just got to try and make the best of this Landy. You just don't expect to have to have such major repairs done as soon as you take delivery of a new Landy. Even more gutting when I bought this as a replacement for my beloved 200Tdi that was stolen 6 weeks before.....

Depending on what trading standards think, you might be able to return it and get your money back, but don't get your hopes up.
Try not to make any mods to it until you'd got more info from them.

Many thanks

I've never had to do that before - I'll google it and find out what to do.

Foxhills Defender Centre are in my experience are certainly to be avoided at all costs!!
i suggest that you note all the faults, write the supplier a recorded delivery letter with the list and give them 2 weeks or so to have all the faults fixed or you wish to have your money back as "it is not fit for purpose".

Just a question MHM, would it also be worthwhile having a body such as the RAC or AA do a vehicle inspection as well to make sure nothing is missed?

Cheers
