i am sure you guys have hashed this out before, but its my turn now...
;-)

i need a new truck now. like in the next week.

i now have a 1994 1500 z-71. 232,000 miles, engine is still very
smooth, but i tore the first transmission out (rocked too hard forward
to reverse when slippery-stuck in hard but very slick tidal flat mud).
it didnt die then rather it crapped out a few months later. had it
rebuilt and now the clutch is slipping and re-ingaging with a solid
BAM. cant really blame that on chevy i guess, just a bad tranny
mechanic.

the transfer case went out a couple of years ago, other than that this
truck has been very dependable for 12 years.

had an expedition for the wife from 1997 to 2004. Never any issues,
drove great untill our then 16-yr old son totalled it. (sound familiar
to anyone?? lol)

my 4x4 use is limited mainly to beach sand and mud, as i live in the
flat southeast texas coastal plains. mainly used for access to
fishing, hunting, and surfing areas that require 4x4.
this truck will rarely experience hard rock terrain.

i am looking at a mid-level (as far as options go) 1/2 ton, crew cab
but maybe extended cab,

curious to hear anyones opinions.
