Not my vehicle but close to me. From FB

Land Rover defender black 110xs, Stolen at 2am this morning from close to Dorking. Vehicle fitted with a tracker and pedal lock. Police managed to follow the tracker to a traveller camp near Guildford and entered camp with 8 officers at 8.15am. No sign of vehicle as it seems the tracker had been disabled.

close to home - after my near theft experience, I'm not surprised. I may well knock on the doors of defender owners near me this weekend to warn them.....

Probably the same bellends that tried to nick yours. :eek:o_O

And quite possibly the ones that took @manmountain58 's in Feb last year from Newdigate.

More than likely..

surely there is something these people can do to protect their landrovers.

What's odd is Stevos was dragged quite far away from his home before the alarm scared them off.

So these thieving ****s are determined.

Don't know if visible CCTV would be enough of a deterrent.

I park mine (with a Disclock) behind another car, but it's on a muddy track so quite easy to tow out of the way. An IR webcam might well be a plan.

and there's a 'traveller' camp less than a mile from my house. Been there years, ironically.

Never had any trouble though - they tour the streets and remove any abandoned metal, such as fridges, cookers etc from the houses that dump them at the side of the road.

I might buy a drone and fly it over their 'camp'......

I would tbh

would be amazed what you will find..

probably a whole fleet of stolen landies!!

I have a drone, with a good enough camera, but there's a bit of a problem. It's illegal to fly one low and close to people that you're not connected with, and also to fly it when you can't see it. And if you can see it and it can see into the camp, then they can probably see you. That's not something I'd choose to do really...

If The authorities are not noticing landrovers randomly disappearing and not being able to find the damn things, they aren't exactly hard to find!!.

I highly doubt they'll notice a small drone hovering around..:D

If you did fly it over I'll put money they'll take it out of the sky with a 12 gauge....

The more peeps spread the word about tratter theft and security probelms the betterer. Some owners don't have a clue. Some don't know of the issues anorl. Some of the owners you talk too may have their own theft problems so you may be able to build a clearer picture of whats gong on in your area.

Travellers are above the law. They swagger around the country doing whatever they want and seemingly nobody can touch them.
They seem unconcerned as to the damage they cause, then complain that they are not welcome after leaving great mounds of rubbish wherever they pitch up.
Some are OK but many seem to be as described.
My father in law had a Petrol Station near Macclesfield and they’d roll up, fill their tanks, then walk round the shop filling their pockets before just driving off.
Police could do “nothing” as their vehicle number plates “didn’t exist”
They were challenged on one occasion and one guy pulled out a wad and gave £100 which didn’t cover what they had lifted from the shop!!
But it was something at least.
They would be accepted a lot better if they obeyed the law.
I assume they pay no tax of any sort (maybe as a traveller you are not liable?) but often have brand new vehicles.
They once stole the spare wheel from my Defender in broad daylight.
Driving past their camp l could see a pile of wheels!
The Police said l would have to prove that my wheel was there. I parked up walked on to the site chose a wheel with a new tyre like mine and started rolling it out of the camp.
The many kids ignored me but a guy appeared and said “what the fu*k are you doing” “Just come to collect my wheel” l said.
He swore again and just walked off. I recovered the wheel.
Still can’t quite believe l did it.
