Trying to remove the flywheel housing to replace the rear crank oil seal and it won't come off.

Pretty sure all the bolts are out but does the sump need to come off. The manual seems ambiguous and I can't see why removing it would help.
Anyone know?

Yep, got 8 bolts and the starter off.
There evidence of a lot of sealant so may be it's just well stuck if the sump won't make any difference.

Engine and box will need a little persuasion from a soft faced hammer or gentle levering to separate them.

Oy slobbery, you stalkin jm again:p:D

Thanks, as usual increased violence was the answer....using a hide mallet as I was unable to bring my slobbery knob head into play; you lot must be a lot more flexible then me.

If ya hide ya mallet how'd find it when ya wanna use it

its worth getting 200 tdi gasket for rear of block err1440 and cutting lower part off it seals rear main are of block where they are prone to leak

Interesting. Would you use a sealant with that?
Whoever had been in before had used about a pint and it had squeezed every where. If I could use a gasket, it would be a lot neater.
