Having a senior moment
There's something that is irritating the life out of me and I just have to get it off my chest.

Every time we go out down the lanes it seems as though the harder ones are fine... but lanes that are easily accessed are now being frequented by ignorant, selfish, arrogant, bastid f***in fly tippers. Seems like you can't go more than a few miles in our part of the world without seeing piles of labourers waste or builders crap piled half way into the path. And its not just the lanes, a lot of the small single lane roads are getting the same problem. I just feel that there has to be something that can be done to catch these assholes. I know that there is technology available to help but no one seems interested in using it.:(

Anyway... Thanks for reading this... I feel much better for your listening ear. Any ideas?

Aye throw the building rubble in the back of yer landy and use it to fill in any ruts or holes you come across whilst out green laning.

Fly tipping really ****es me off round here too. The bastards will dump anything. If they've put it in their car why the **** can't they take it to the tip like normal people. As for the buildrs etc who do it to avoid paying at the tip if they can't afford a few quid charge at the tip they shouldn't be in business. It's got worse since the council stopped providing community skips but they stopped them because builders etc were using them instead of the tip. Now they just tip it anywhere, bastards.

The bit I cant understand is the government put disposal taxes to make you pay for what you get rid of to get people to cut down on waste. Builders and the like still produce the same amount of waste. They then dump it to avoid paying the tax. Do the government pay more to clear up fly tipping than they gain in tax? If so whats the point?

the cost of clearing up fly tipping will have 8 digits in it

the value of taxation raised for landfill tax will have at least 11 digits in it, if not more

I have a Commercial Waste Carriers Licence. The Licence itself is pretty cheap, but the charges at the tip have gone up from about £30 a Tonne 5 years ago, to £120 a Tonne today. No wonder fly tipping is happening. It's the same with scrap cars, a few years ago you had to pay to get them disposed of, so there were scrap cars just dumped. Now they'll either take them for free or even pay a few quid for them.
Simple solution, make it economical to take waste to the tip and they'll be less fly tipping.
Wait till people are charged by how much rubbish they throw out. They did it in Dublin and everybody had bonfires, now they're complaining about Dublin's air quality.
People just don't want to pay.

think its more the case people cant AFFORD to pay, than dont WANT to pay. ya pay all this tax, and they wont take ur HOUSEHOLD rubbish. I agree fly tippin is a crime, but I understand why the common man does it. but like wat was said earlier, for BUSINESS's to do it, thats jus a fookin disgrace.

For the most part I really don't think th common man does it very much. Out tip in Dunstable won't take waste from anything with more than four wheels, but there's one in Luton that takes just about everything. I'm pretty sure its mostly the builders. I read of one scheme where people were putting their address into the rubbish in several places and then the workmen were fly tipping. Of course the addresses came to light and the guilty were copped! But actually proving it like this would have been a nightmare!

Most Council Tips will not accept trade waste, i.e. anything that arrives in a Van. Trade waste has to go to a Transfer Station, where you are weighed in and out and charged by weight. To use a transfer station you have to have a Commercial Waste Carriers Licence, to get one you must be a legal tax paying company. If you're caught carrying trade waste without a licence, you're deemed to be a fly tipper, because there is legally no way you can get rid of the waste.
People who fly tip are either, not legal tradesmen, won't/can't pay the charges or people who have borrowed a Van only to be turned away at a council tip. Most are illegal traders though.

Yes but just what can anyone do to stop it? I mean we can vid kit on the entrance and exit of lanes, will this help and who's gonna foot the bill?
