Hi all,
I’ve got a grumbling/rumbling sound/feeling coming from my Land Rover D2 TD5 with ZF4HP22 that feels/sounds like a failing bearing.
It is engine speed related, not vehicle speed.
It’s there constantly regardless of gear selection/vehicle moving/stationary. It is however worse when out of park/neutral i.e. the box is engaged/under load.
It does not at present appear to be having any affect on function.
I consider myself an amateur/home mechanic and do a lot of my own work but am in no way qualified with mechanics.
Doing some research, I suspect either the torque converter or the ‘box ATF pump.
I’ve emailed Ashcroft and they have pointed me towards the flex plate which makes sense to me however they have neither their HD TC or Flexplate kit in stock and are unable to give an ETA for availability… I’ve subscribed to their notifications for both so they know there is a demand for them…
As far as I’m concerned, I’m essentially driving a ticking time bomb and it’s my only vehicle…
from what I can work out the TC is a direct replacement with the medium TC as long as I can find a flexplate kit from somewhere…?
can anyone point me in the direction of an alternative source for a flexplate kit and an HD TC?
