Hi,
I recently purchased a 2012xs auto for my Mrs and it nearly killed her today.
When we picked it up the steering felt light and wobbly and when going round left hand corners it felt like the front offside wheel wanted to tuck under the car. I had the wheels alignment done as they were miles out which helped a bit but it still feels loose and today in the wet it did a perfect 360 degree spin. Luckily my wife kept it on the road and there were no other cars on the road.
Has anyone heard of this issue before or could could give any suggestions on where to start.
Cheers Alisdair

Tyre pressures, tyre condition, four wheel alignment, track rod ends, soft wishbone bushes for starters

Sounds like faulty power steering valve, possibly broken spring? don't take risks get it checked out properly, stay safe.
Here's a link to a video I did a while back but it was not that fault.

Tyre pressures all good and I’ve had the wheel alignment done and there was a receipt in the paper work for the supply and fitting of the track rod ends. I’ll have the wishbone bushes checked when I’m home at the end of the month.
Cheers for the reply.

Cheers for your reply.
I can’t get your link to work but it could just be the Wi-fi on the boat I’m on.
With the faulty valve would that require a new power steering pump? I don’t think it’s the spring but I’ll get it checked out.
Thanks

the valve block is part of the rack. I got an exchange rack for about £145 + vat then got a garage to fit it (explained in video) but don't do that unless you are sure its the rack because its a big job to change. Any pump fault would be the same both directions as it doesn't know which way you are turning. So does it feels different one way to the other even at standstill?

It really feels light in both directions but the Mrs said the car let go twice on left hand bends. Not sure if that was just coincidence though.
I’ve told her to stop driving it in the meantime.

Just had an update from the garage via the Mrs where they found the steering to be slightly vague but within tolerance. There were several fault codes relating to the yaw sensor which they have cleared but I’m not certain if the sensor was replaced or not and they have asked her to return next week to see if any fault codes have reappeared.
I’ll keep you updated in case anyone else is having a similar issue.
