Replaced the drivers door window regulator yesterday due to the usual broken/rusted/seized wire issue. Pretty simple to do. Job's a good 'un I thought smugly last night. Popped to the shops this morning, pulled the handle to open the door but no affect. Tried locking/unlocking a couple of times with the door switch, still nothing. Pushed the button thing on the top of the door and that dropped into the bottom of the door!! Still won't unlock. The up side is that now I've fixed the window I can open it to reach the outside handle to get out of the car.

Anybody have any words of wisdom as to what the issue is? Scrapping the bloody thing is high on my list at the moment!!

Presumably you've managed to knock the door release latch off the lock mechanism. Should be simple to fix, once the door card is off, not that removing the door card is difficult.

Nodge was correct. I'd dis-lodged the lock cable out of the retainer on the back of the lock as well as the arm for the lock/unlock button. I can get the door card off in a matter of minutes now :). Now to repalce the regulator in the rear passenger door. I'll then have done all of them bar the front passenger side. A mate gave me one of the kits which is just the replacement wires so I gave that a go on the rear drivers door. Really simple to re-cable it but the final bit of getting it on the spool and then tensioning it ready to fit the motor was a pig of a job. Buying the whole thing is worth the extra money IMHO.
