Hi. I'm a newbie to the Forum and a newbie to the world of Land Rovers. Just bought a 2002 Feelander 1.8 SE. In my enthusiasm I purchase (from fleabay) a complete spot and fog kit for fitting to the bumper of a LDH TD. It was cheap and unused and desite the need to extend the wiring to fit an RHD vehicle (not a problem) I confidently assumed that I could doctor the pods/'plinthettes' to fit a SE's front bumper. Having now inspected the pod and the bumper (as you experienced owners already know!) the SE has smaller contoured bumper than the bigger TD. So my questions are:

1. Has anyone fitted a TD set to an SE?
2. Does Land Rover actually make a light fitting kit for SE bumpers and if so can the pods/plinthettes be purchased separately?
3. Or do I simply give up and put it all back on eBay?

Any helpful comments will be appreciated.

All the best

depends which sets you have bought. i recently fitted fogs to mine, took the bumper off and there is a line embossed in the back of the bumper which you stitch drill and cut out, then the fogs fit flush.

BUT

the later (04 onwards) bumpers had a kind of integral nudge bar arrangement which the fogs/driving lights butted up to.

even more confusing, there were different kits for the 02, depending on whether you had a nudge bar fitted, then the pods butted up to it, or not.

The fog lamp kit which integrates into the lower bumper had a design break point at 02 so you may have fallen foul of this. There are loads of variants of these, all shown in the accessories brochure. Going to bed now, but maybe can put up the info if you're interested.

Thank you, OP. Sorry not to have responded before.

The kit I have is No'd: STC53049. It is for the pre-04 type (albeit a TD whereas mine isn't) and it seems it can be fitted to a nudge bar type or a non-nudge bar type (which mine is) because the kit includes moulded parts that fit onto the bumper to act as end-pieces for the pods. The kit would have been pretty expensive, given the contents, namely, four lamps, switches, wiring, pods, trim etc etc. I got it for £40 so it seems a shame if I can't take advantage of it.

Yes, I would be very interested and grateful if you would put up the information that you described.

Many thanks

Thank OP. It seems that the kit I have acquired will not be compatible unless I can source different pods and trust that the lamps are suitable i.e hoping they are same lamps for all kits but different fitements for different styles of bumper. I shall investigate and thank you for getting me started.

that kit is actually the double pod kit for the V6....might be easier sourcing a v6 bumper rather than bodging the light kit...

just done mine the major points are the same the only ones that don't match up are the 4 in a line just above the mesh grill on the lower part of the bumper . but make sure you have a hack saw handy for the ****ty fixtures there a bitch to get off ie the wheel arch liner screws hope this helps :)
