Mozz, it's just possible to pop it out if you pull the radio out. the proper way involves removing the instrument binacle, and loads of other bits to get the switch panel out. Official way is to remove the centre fascia and pop the clock out the front from the rear...
Not sure of any short cut methods....as it is held in place from behind with sprung clips IIRC

I did mine, but it's not easy and impossible if you have big hands
and my hands are to big to go through the hole where the radio is so got no chance that way. and as for stripping out the dash gonna give that a definate miss, good luck to you mozz if you find easy way let me know. please.
I fitted a new clock but the pendulum kept hitting the Hevac when i put the brakes on.
