A while back i ordered doorseals (lr077686/7) for the doors on my series 3. I now have come to the point where i want to fit them. All the other seals i have fitted so far have had a flat metal backing strip, and i have fitted these by drilling holes in the relevant places and using pop rivets.
The doorseals however have a plastic backing strip and it is of different width. Whilst i could try riveting, it looks like it would make a mess of the seal and just doesn't feel right.
Have i the wrong part, is there another way to fit these etc?

That's a right pain. Looks a look more costly to go buy all the individual seals.
but i suspect the "mods" would involve cutting the seal frames i have in place, so losing a bit of originality.
Oh well.

Ive an early 110, and got the later seals , I fitted them by gluing them on with " sticks like sh*t" or something similar. They've been on for over 10 years now without problems.

Apply glue to seal ,
apply seal to door,
Shut door.
Come back 24 hours later..
Seals stuck to door.

Had the same problem, had to cut them a bit to fit them stuck em in with Tigerseal. Never coming off.
Did the front vent seals the same way, nae leaks and I live in the wettest part of the known universe.
