I have been given a Pioneer CD head unit which has iPod connectivity which I would like to fit to my 2001 2.5 DHSE which has steering wheel controls for the existing Alpine XQD101550LNF head unit.

Various websites say as the existing has ISO connectors it's a straight swap, no wiring harness adapters required, but will the steering wheel controls still work? and the rear mounted sub woofer?

Any help or advice by someone who has successfully fitted a replacement head unit prior to me fitting would be helpful.

The Pioneer head unit is aDEH-P4900IB-I200

Thanks Steve

I looked into this a little about a year ago as I wanted an iPod jack as well. In the end I kept the original head unit as the choice seemed to be loosing the CD changer or the steering wheel controls. I also believe we can have trouble with the various amps when fitting other head units. Instead I had an iPod jack installed in the original Alpine head unit by Roverville UK for £80 I think it was. www.roverville.us

Having heavy rock damaged ears, improving the sound system in my RR would be a waste of money. Also having a V8 with Janspeed exhaust is all the music I need anyway.

Put a JVC ipod and bluetooth enabled stereo im my 2001 4.6 RR Vogue with no probs, the head unit can handle 3 seperate amps but I did have to buy a seperate lead for the steering controls which was just plug and play then plug in your ipod and bounch down the road to your fav tunes. All speakers work plus woofer with no feedback at all no matter how loud, a lot of campers at last years Sonisphere can back that one up !!!!!:D

I was looking at getting an Alpine combined GPS/hands free/dvd unit fitted to my 2000 P38. I asked the question about compatibility with the steering wheel controls and this was suggested:

The Axxess Interface from WWW.CONNECTS2.COM

The company weren't too helpful with regards to the P38 but it looked promising
