Hi guys
Hopfully if it arrives tomorrow i will be fitting a Solar panel to the rooftent ( on landy roof ) ready for a metal detecting trip to Shell island ( Wales ) next Friday

Sounds good, how many what's? I've never actually been there even though it's not far

Good job, dont use screws though or it will go through the tent, I think you need velcro or similar

Shell island is great, haven't been for a while since Landy has been out of action but love it.

Not sure velcro will hold, even at landy speeds! Sikaflex is often used on campers

170 Watts, yeah i've been to barmouth loads of times but never shell island though

Iys a solid one and comes with a fitting kit inc brackets and screws

You'll want to waterproof the screw holes.
You can get waterproof grommets for the wires. Officially called cable entry glands, to make them sound more expensive

Got it fitted just in time before it rained so the landy is in the garage and son is wirong it all up whilst i go work

Solar panel & wales in the same line…

Some good beaches between Barmouth & shell island.

And the queen vic by the bridge/turn for shell island used to be good for a pint with the locals

You can set it for different amps / voltage but my batteries a x 2 100amp leisure batteries

Wow even with the landy in the garage with the doors open the Solar panel still charged the batteries up and whilst i was washing the landy ready for going to shell island on Friday i charged my detector headphones up and it only took 1 hr to charge them whilst it was charging the leisure batteries up, well chuffed

I've got 2x105ah batteries in my van with a 20amp b2b charger. It has solar input and if my calcs are right I can go up to 240 watt panels so looking for a couple of 120w.

I'll have a run of cable between panels and then past my rooflight before dropping inside. I've seen 3M cable clips but don't know how well they'll last.

Yep i always check mine after every trip, was on the way back from Rhyl a couple of werks back and saw a family on the other side of the mway with there roofbox all in bits on the carriage way and never understand why they never check them or get them checked
