Hi all,
I would really appreciate any advice you experts out there can provide me to help with my project 93 3 door 200TDI project. I have acquired a donor 95 5 door 300TDI vehicle.

Doors. I want to replace the front PAx/Dvrs and cargo doors on the 200TDI with the front and cargo doors from the 300TDI. Are there any issues with this? I've done some basic measurements, and it looks like they fit, but before I go removing stuff, I'd love to make sure they really do! The 300TDI doors are in good nick and the electric windows, mirrors etc. are all good too - moreover, they aren't warped and rusty like the 200TDIs ones are.

Axles. I am thinking of putting the 300TDI axles onto the 200TDI (losing the ABS in the process). While both are 24 splines, the 300TDI has better brake callipers and rotors - can I just swap both front and rears or is there more to than that? Alternately, can I just swap the axle stubs including all the brake stuff, etc? I want to add an Eaton rear and an e or air locker front at a later date too.

Engine and Gearbox. The 300TDI has an auto transmission (still of two minds about that vs Manual), but can I swap the 200TDI for the 300TDI as a drop in or is there more to it? Still wondering if I should do a deal on a RT380 manual too, though.

I plan on selling the leftovers as a rolling chassis body with live reg plus bibs and bobs later on.
Sorry if these questions are repeats of a by gone thread, I've dug through the forums until my eyes started watering and can't find any info along these lines.

Cheers
Dave

Surprised no one has answered you on this!
Generally 200tdi and 300tdi parts are swappable, especially bodywork stuff.
But be careful with an auto box cos the later ones on the 300tdi at least, were fly by wire, i.e. they had an ECU.
I'm not as hot on this as people like @discool

I reckon body stuff will be fine
Whole axles should be fine, but do check how many front brakes flex hoses the 200 has compared to the 300
200 to 300 engine to chassis mounts are different

Thanks very much, Lynall, for the reply. Very useful info. I will need to dig a bit deeper on 300TDI/Auto box, but at least I know for sure the body parts will fit no problems.

Thanks for head's up. I'll look into the b rake hose issue! Cheers. Dave

Some of the engines were fly by wire, but all the ZF 4HP22 transmissions as were used in the 200Tdi, 300Tdi and range rover classics were fully mechanical with a kick-down cable. It was the 4HP24 that came with electronic controls starting on the P38 RR. As rightly stated, all parts with the exception of specific engine parts are interchangeable between the 200 and 300.

Having reread what I posted I realise i wasn't clear.
Later 300tdi Autos had an ECU for the ENGINE was what I meant.
But you can be sure all manuals have no problems re interchangeability of other parts. Except the very obvious stuff for the 200 and 300tdi engines which were surprisingly different for the same size, power output etc.
