I've read on a couple of sites that my Series IIa should be able to go into 2wd as well as 4wd. I really have no idea how to work the gearbox and don't have any handbooks etc. to help me.

I'm sure you've all seen this loads but could someone explain what positions the levers should be in for each function and what I need to do for normal 2wd road use?

Here's a picture of the bits I don't understand: http://www.scotdir.com/temp/landy1.jpg

Thanks,

Floydster

Pull red lever right back = 4wd low box.
Push red lever right the way forward = 2wd
Push yellow lever down whilst red lever is forward = 4wd high
To disengage 4wd high, pull the red lever right back, yellow one should pop back up then return the red lever to it's forward most position.

Regards WP.

Thanks folks,

I'm now totally up to speed on what to do in (my very red) Series IIa. Thanks again. I did have a quick search last night but I'd had a couple of cans and my spooling was probably wrong.

Very happy in Scotland,

Hand painted in dark red with a white hard top. Lovely!!!!

The MOT's due in December so I'll see how much that costs and if there's any cash left over I'll return it to the original colour.

Hey....
Do not tuch gear box at all, you do not need...at all

Buy (Free wheel hub's for front wheel's - cost me in SERBIA 140eur 2pcs)

You can mount alone (if you have even small mehanical knowledge) and on them disangage front wheel drive....

From that moment just back wheel's have power, and changing LOW/HIGH speed just going BACK.... :) :D :)

so now you have a choice..either move a stick, handily mounted in yer cab, backwards or forwards.. or climb out and turn a thing on first one wheel , then move to the other side of the vehicle and do the same at that wheel. thats after you have paid for them and fitted them..... ah tell you some people are just too dumb fer their own good
