Hi Everyone,

This is mt first post, great forums!

Picked up my RR last week 03 4.4V8 a needs new radiator! Im not sure what coolant I need? I have spoken to various people about this and I'm getting a mixed repsonse. Some are saying go to a RR/BMW dealer and buy the proper stuff, some saying only blue, some saying only red (ie from halfords)

Any help would be great

i would go to the dealer,as im pretty sure they have a magnesium alloy head on them,at least that way you know your getting the right stuff,put the wrong stuff in and it could cost you a big repair bill or a new engine

Welcome to the site Ross03, my understanding is that you do not mix the two types of anti-freeze as they can react against each other and form a gel type solution. Just check which colour you have at the moment and use that.

So I it's main delaer coolant?

I have just rung main dealer 5L £29 and its blue?

Is this the same stuff as in Halfoids at £14 advanced coolant?

probably is,just i read an article on coolants a while ago,and basicly some new coolants shouldn,t be used in old type cars,and the new cars should have the newer coolants in them.something to do with all the addatives in them and how some are designed to protect alluminium,while some will gradually eat it away.is there not a local automotive factor nearby that can help,as they should have information for which make coolant should be suitable for the right vehicles

its in the general Q's and A's bit - a search should find it - its not the colour thats important - its the type - does yours need an OAT antifreeze?
