Went Greenlaning for the first time ever yesterday with some of the guys from here :D :D

I'm completely hooked, it was brilliant. We went somewhere in North Yorkshire, not exactly sure where as I just stuck to the Disco in front and prayed :D

I love my Defender so much, she managed to keep up and do everything and was very forgiving of my mistakes. The worst being not having her properly in gear at one of the river crossings and stopping half way through it  After the first steep downhill bit I discovered the real purpose of low box :D

No disasters but a couple of punctures (not mine)

So thank you so much to the guys for taking me out. I wont name them unless they want to post on here.

Almost on top of a mountain :D

A bog we managed to get across

Then the hardest part. A really rocky downhill bit which I would never have believed my Defender could do and then two river crossings. Well three as the river was out and over the lane in one part.

I nearly chickened out of this one, but that would have meant going back up the hill

well done on your first trip you got the bug now

Thanks, I thought bits of it were really hard until I asked how it rated on a difficulty scale of one to ten. Wouldn't even get on the scale was the answer.

I have a lot to learn :D :D

Nice one Suew, glad you enjoyed it and did it (for the first time) properly!

And nice one 'the lads' for taking her and helping without ****-taking ... or at least not enough to put her off .. ;)

Looks like a good time was had by all.

twas a good gentle day out.

:p For some, I'm exhausted today :D

I cant believe you actually reversed up that hill that I had trouble getting down

I think they must have saved the **** taking for the CBs, I'm sure my driving was worthy of it, I didn't know I should be using low box until the 2nd lane :D :D CB is another item on my bling list :D

didnt want to wait on me own while the rangey got escorted out.....:D

he was advised that low profiles werent exactly the best choice, even if it was his spare set! (road from stalling busk)

there wasnt all that much **** taking, tho grubby john did have more than his fair share chucked at him.
he deserves it anyway :D
cb's are good for the banter, but useful for passing info backwards an forwards,- gates to shut,
stuff to watch out for, and if your at the back, shouting for the others to come back an get yer
when yer cant set off after shutting the gate.....

it would have been useful for you, being able to talk you down tricky sections
(even if there werent any :p) and what gear to be in.
even to find out why yer stopped in the ford.......:p

glad you enjoyed it, will let you know when there's another trip out.

for the general info, attendees were-
nrgserv (no probs)

uncle zippy (not sure of his username on ere, he dont frequent it reet oft)

grubby john (mr flat tyre at churn milk hole)(insa turbo i think, ripped sidewall, front nearside)

suew (no probs at all, stock 90)

mark (not on ere, 03 rangey full of electronic ****, other mr flat tyre (low profile mud and snow, apparently!)
at churn milk hole.(front offside)
oh and it seems having an odd sized spare really messes with the air suspension ride height!

and about 7 passengers and 2 dogs.

Well if he's not on here I can laugh then. Loved his remark after we came down that steep slippy grass hill when you advised I should have been in low box. He said something like " dont you have a downhill button on the computer" :D :D On a 20 odd year old defender  Even better because he had just been talking about having to reboot the one on his because it didn't like the spare tyre :D :D

I bought mine BECAUSE it didn't have all the electronic **** :D :D

And tricky is relative to who is making the assessment, those rocky bits were tricky :p
