Happend today, green laning, attempted a rapid 2nd to 1st down change without losing momentum and.... Snap! Gear stick snapped off in my hand! It had snapped flush with the top of the selector... Took the floor panel off and managed to get my mate to lever the gears around while I drove

I'm going to have a go at welding it tomorrow although it looks to be some kind of cast metal that won't weld, I'll find out...

Is this a common thing?

Its happend to me too, easy to weld back on.

As you will have guessed, yes quite common.

I've seen it happen on a mate's IIA. He welded it back onto the ball and the repair lasted OK
