I posted earlier regarding water getting into the n/s passengers footwell on my 4.6 HSE.

My first thought was 'o' rings or matrix as there was a smell of coolant. Turns out it wasn't, however, these had failed some years before and the fresh moisture had simply released the residual coolant smell from the carpets/underlay.

The culprit was water getting in from the air intake vents/pollen filters at the base of the screen. The filters themselves were completely clogged, but more important was the fact that the gauze mesh that sits accross the windscreen air intake had completely rotted away allowing all manner of debris into the air intake, but also rain/ melting snow under extreme conditions. This travelled down the duct towards the n/s blower behind the glovebox and seeped out into the footwell.

The obvious fix is to replace the gauze mesh, but checking rangerover.net it seems like a balls ache. I decided instead to shove in some mesh designed to keep crap out of gutters, seemed like a good idea, but in practice this doesn't keep out the rain.

My solution has been to get some black plastic netting, the stuff gardeners use to keep birds out, scrunch (technical term) into a rough sausage shape and shove (another technical term) into the air intake cavity having undone the bottom set of screws.

This mesh allows air through but is dense enough to prevent water getting in. I've had the car parked out in several heavy downpours since the fix without a drop coming into the car.

So, if you get water in the passenger (n/s) footwell don't presume the worst. Clear out the pollen filters, fix the mesh, remove the glovebox and clear out any fallen debris obstructing/impeding the blower.

Hope this helps.

It did happen, just didn't take photos.
