Apart from a leaking gearbox pipe repair that I referred to in a previous post ("Holidaying in Cornwall"), my newly-fitted-for-the-trip Kenlowe suction fan packed up (faulty relay).

I contacted Kenlowe by email on my return home. Within 15 minutes I received an apologetic phone call and replacement part in the post, that I received the next day. All working fine now. Faulty part was returned for inspection, nothing heard yet.

Fortunately, having had cooling problems previously (replaced thermo and water pump, abandoned viscous fan), I'd already wired in my Air Con fans (thanks Datatek) and this helped cover the Kenlowe deficiency. That is, until crossing Bodmin Moor (up hill) on a hot day, towing my two-ton caravan. The temperature gauge went to maximum. Stopping as quickly as possible, I wired the faulty Kenlowe to run permanently - which did the trick as a temporary measure.

This experience might be helpful in any debate about the efficacy of viscous fans v electric fans v substituting existing air con fans (switched on permanently at time of overheat). I suppose it's about whether your vehicle will be used in more extreme conditions?
