Hi there first post here so hope it's in the right section!
Bit of background: have a 92 200tdi defender and I removed and glavanised the bulkhead and have everything re-attached however as above both guages are not working correctly.

Both guages have 12v to one side and when the other side is grounded, the guages read full. When ignition off fuel guage reads 0 but temperature guage sometimes stops at half way.

Fuel guage: I've tried and new fuel sender but with the sender at it's lowest position, the guage reads 1/4 full. Currently have 1/2 a tank of fuel but the guage is reading basically full? Is my guage likely to be faulty or is there anything else I can try

Temperature guage: guage was working correctly when grounded going to top then back to 0 when ignition off however the other day it stuck at half full. Before this the guage would read full after only running the engine for 2-3 mins which isn't right. Tried a new sender here too and still no luck.
Assuming my guage is faulty and I need to fit a new one can anyone reccomend a good graduated guage that gives a reading in degrees?

Also wiring for both guages has full continuity! Thanks in advance!

Voltage regulator ? If like a series the gauges run at 10v through a regulator behind the dash.

I know you said ground is fine....but i am fairly sure the ground goes through the sensor in the tank - its resistive, so the resistance to ground changes what the gauge shows.

I had/have the same issue after a galv chassis - i was planning on changing temp gauge to a mechanical one anyway, so didnt investigate that bit, and the fuel gauge is still on my to do list....though i am 99% sure my issue is not a good enough ground to the tank.

Got the temperature guage sorted forgot to put the "Daisy chain" earth link between the fuel guage and temperature guage put it in and works deadon now. Still having problems with the fuel guage not being accurate! No voltage regulator in a defender and don't think it is grounded through the tank as the whole sender unit is plastic! Any other ideas?

I had a similar problem before, make sure you have the 2 green power wires connected to the gauges. Swap them over and see if that helps. If not, try changing changing the wires around on the fuel tank sender. You might have the low fuel wire connected to the fuel level pin. I know it sounds silly but for some reason that happens sometimes

The leads to the guages only go on one way and I've tried every combination of the wires on the sender and still no luck
