hi and good afternoon ,i have a Freelander 2014 diesel ,two warnings have come on my dashboard one for the handbrake(electronic) and one for traction controll both seem to be giving me a reading of gault UO100 one stating lost comunication with engine control and the other one lost comunication with body control module, and one also reads U2002 [general electric fault, anyone got any ideas hoe to fix such a problem.Thanks.Kieron

Have you cleared the codes?
How old is the battery? If its more than 4 years old, just starting the engine will log codes.
Check in my sig for a full list of LR codes and the meanings.

hi and thanks Nodge or your reply ,I'm sorry i didn't reply earlier. Is it possible that i have blown some fuses by connecting the diagnostic reader before turning the ignition on , and if so would you have any idea which fuses they are,i have spent quite a bit of time trying to find information (trying to not appear stupid) and did read somewhere that i may not be getting any communication with the modules because the fuse is blown. Could this be possible. Thanks

It says lost comunication with engine control module
And lost comuncation with body control unit
And a code v2002 General Electric fault

Are those the only modules you can't connect to?
They are the only ones I’ve tried to connect to, In fact it’s the diognostic tool that has given me those faults I don’t think that I actually tried to connect to them .

The tool is giving codes, so it's connected to the vehicle. The various modules have lost communication with the system controller, which is the Ipack IIRC.
Normally lost communication codes are set when the battery voltage drops when starting.
It's actually sensible to turn the ignition on so the system checks complete, before allowing the engine to start. This gets particularly important as the battery ages, or data bus corruption occurs as the battery voltage plummets when starting.
