hello every 1 i have a 99 plate freelander 1.8 petrol and having problems with idle its running at about 2.000 rpm and creaps up i have looked at the idle control valve and is working fine had new crank sharft sensor not so long ago whould this be just a air leak ????? can any one Help ME PLEASE

First check that the throttle is not restricted in some way, cable too taut, snagged, corroded

Have you reset the throttle position sensor. Switch off engine, turn key so ignition light comes on, depress accelerator pedal 5 times in succession - job done switch off ignition.

Throttle butterfly could be stuck, plastic throttle bodies can warp if they get too hot. Alu ones available as upgrades

Not had this on my freelander, but it happened to my Daughter's Rover 114.

Turned out to be the Thottle Body itself, which they replaced with a s/h part and it's been fine ever since
