Hi another problem I have encountered with my 2001 TD4 that I hope someone can help me with - I have just noticed yesterday and today that when I switch off the engine there is a sound of a fan running under the bonnet. I hadn't been aware of this prior to that time but a bit worried in case I need to take pre-emptive action! Again, any info welcome

.... and so the season begins for those who have recently bought TD4's with with Fuel Burning Heaters

Have a little search for that or FBH

Hey Mark2, thank you for that - found it quickly on mg-rover forum via google - so it seems, if I read it right, that I needn't concern myself about it as it is normal?

Every year at about this time, as the ambient temp drops below 5degC ...

... there is a rash of new TD4 owners having near heart attacks coz they think it's going up in flames or summat

Could lay money on the question coming up just by watching the weather forecast - you'd be the 3rd this week

Doh! Well there you go - another dumb question from a newbie then! This forum is great for people like me, so thank you for all your wisdom!:):)

No worries,

When I look at a forum, I have a good search through the technical stuff, see if there are any issues that I have that can be resolved by reading first,

then if it looks like an interesting forum and I have a further question or can contribute an answer, I join and join in.

It gets tiresome and even urksome when folks just jump in with their first post being a question that has been answered a thousand times.
It can be difficult to temper that with the thought that they may be in a blind panic and desperately need help.

There is a wealth of info here, however it is my least used forum - for no other reason than I am busy elsewhere on a completely different subject

Yes nothing worse than having to repeat the same stuff over and over! I found the 'other' same questions when I put in fbh to the search - I think I must not have put the right search words in the first twice before asking - I knew it sounded like a fan but had no idea what kind of fan, anyhow, you have put my mind at rest and I will no doubt continue to ask dumb questions! Cheers!

Not really dumb,

You wouldn't have known what to put in until all was revealed

enjoy the site, some are not so tolerant :D
