Hi all

Well I came back to the car after parking it half an hour ago to find the rad fan on full blast. As soon as I put the key in thd ignition, it stopped. It did the same thing a few minsblater ehen I reparked.

2 weeks ago it had a major service and flew through the mot.

Is this something I need to be concerned about? I am currently in france so away from my toolbox and only have my trusty leathetman multitool to help me out.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Ian

It's a problem if it drains the battery. If it does it every time you park, might be safer to pull the fans fuse. Remember to put it back before you drive off though.

Ive motors in the past where the fans run on for a long time once turned off and i presumed it was normal to aid cooling, i dont remember if they went off when ignition was turned on tho, but id guess at a fualty switch or thermostat or something?

How lo g does it stay on for when hou parkup at home etc?

Had this problem with Er Indoors Vectra a few years ago-it has an electric cooling fan.
There were two relays in the circuit, one for the fan on/off and a timer relay for running the fan for about a minute after the engine is switched off. The timer relay had packed up and held the fan on until the battery went flat. Replaced the relay, from memory cost about £25 and it's been fine since.

Hi
These might help
Shouldn't still be running after half an hour, sure you haven't a cooling problem.
