Hi All,

a happy new year to all of you.

Yesterday my fan started with strange noises. I took a video of it Gebläse/ fan - YouTube

Anyone an idea what it could be. My wife thought it might be stuck anything in like she had in her car once.

Sounds like the fuel burning heater (haven't watched video, but that's what it generally turns out to be)
 
haven't checked it with the heater, will do that. Is when the fan between one and 4 and when I accelerate it's getting louder as well.

I noticed that you only showed it with the heater on full.

What engine is it and do you have a FBH?

Maybe watch the video then as it's not that :p

Looks like it only does it when it's on up/screen setting ? on some model this is when the aircon works ( but no light on aircon button )
Does the aircon work or makes that noise ?

no the heater doesn't affect it, cold or warm no difference, when I switch to windscreen or foot/up then it starts with that noise. 0 is also fine.

Will check for AirCon. Shouldn't be on.
 
PS Sorry forgot about engine, is a TD4 2L '02, common rail. How could I found out if a FBH is build in? I checked on eurocarparts but am not sure where to search for it?

It has a/c but wasn't on. Strangely I had it yesterday with Halfords to check for a possible oil leak and we had a chat about the a/c as I had, when back in Germany a guy, from blacklandy forum mentioned that a sensor would be defect and I should switch off a/c permanently till renewed. He said it could only be changed if the cooling liquid would have been sucked off before. Must check the report sheets for that. Could that affect that as well?
 
Sounds like a faulty AC compressor kicking in. Does it make the noise just by pushing the AC button?
 
The noise is nothing to do with the FBH , But if you have one there will be an exhaust pipe below nearside ( left ) bumper ?

On some models the AC comes on automatically when you select the screen setting on left dial ( past the 2 0 clock mark), The AC button does not light up when this happens ?

Have you RTM and pulled fuses to isolate it?

My first thought earlier was summat in the fan but I only know K Series petrols . ;-)

Don' the know about fbh but will check, just to see where it could be. I am not sure what you mean by settings. I thought a/c would be switched on over button only. Where exactly could I find it do you mean?

Np! RTM? I am not sure either here what you mean. Couldn't find anything about it here.
 
So it's not the AC compressor. Best guess is a Leaf has found it's way into the fan housing.
 
Gutted my sunroof is leaking , it's full of rust , does anyone know where I can get one . I have looked on eBay and phoned half the scrap yards in England , can't find one for love nor money

Off Road clearance is less than a sixpence. Yes
Driven by hairdressers. Maybe

But rust :eek:!

Read the manual ;)

Personally it sounds like there is summat in the diverter/fan.

Have you tried taking the pollen filter out and trying it without it to eliminate that? I don't think it likely but for the sake of four screws and five minutes work it might be worth giving it a go... ;)

Your be lucky to find a second hand one that's not rusty , Is it that bad can it be rubbed down and painted with hammerite ?
I have a spare one in the garage somewhere that's just a bit rusty but solid ?
New sunroofs are £180 !

Lets start simple - Does it make the noise when you run the fan without the engine running ?
