Grimmer

THE Winner
So the Fender has failed the M.O.T., so just so I'm clear on what I'l be doing over the next few day:confused::confused::confused:

001 - Front (Both sides) Radius arm rubber bush deteriorated resulting in excessive movement.
Just new bushes then:confused:

002 - Front (Both at calipers) Brake pipes excessively corroded.
New brake pipes then:confused:

003 - Rear (Crossmember) Vehicle structure has excessive corrosion, seriously affecting its strength within 30cms of the body mountings.
I'll get some more practice with mi welderising:cool:

004 - Rear (A Bar) Suspension arm has excessive play in a ball joint.
Is this M.O.T. speak for new A-frame ball joint:confused::confused::confused:

006 - Emissions 3.3%
Put some more Veg oil in it, and give it a good run before the retest:D

Advisories for

005 - Oil leak
:eek::eek::eek:Its a feckin Landy:rolleyes::rolleyes:

007 - Brakes spongy
:confused::confused::confused::confused:

So are my assumptions in Red correct:confused::confused: No 004 is the main one that I'm unsure of, and just need to check before I order any bits;)
I'm off to read Busters guides before I go to work:cool::cool:

Before anybody says anything the rear crossmember wasn't anything to do with the patches I did:p:p:p, it's a bit I obviously missed on the underside;)

True enough! Do you usually split to 2 arms from the ball joint carrier?

Yeah split the centre part out but after undoing the 30mm nut.

Cut the wings off the bottom where the bolts go through as close to the joint as possible press it down, press new one in. Simples :)

There was a Land Rover "expert" at a garage I worked at, he used to do them on the vehicle and hammer them out. Only took him about 2 days. He then near enough broke his back falling off a step ladder while fitting a bulb... in an ambulance!

Well this is where Im up to at the minute, I'll stick em back on in the morning with the noooo bushes that have just landed:cool::cool:

3.3% emissions, that's nearly there, you only need to average under 3

When mine failed it averaged over 6 and filled the garage with smoke:), had to get the injectors serviced, which fixed it

As an MoT tester myself, I don't think he has been very sympathetic towards your lany.
Mine is like a tea bag but its all a genuine pass sticking to vosa`s rules.

I was actually thinking that myself, there was VERY little play in the bushes (And that is using a big pry bar), the brake pipes, well I reckon he has mistook "Corrosion" for general ****:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:, but I've broken one getting them off, so I'll get a couple made up tomorrow anyway. While I will give him the crossmember, it is far from brilliant, but I reckon he has hit it with more than a toffee hammer:eek::eek::eek:

The emissions should be fine, I've bunged 10 litres of veg oil in the tank, and I'll give it a good run before the retest:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:

Make sure your air filter is tip top. That can cause black smoke.
The test is for how black the smoke is.
The MoT tester shouldn't be hitting your vehicle with anything.... finger and thumb to check for corrosion or at the best the ****ty corrosion assessment tool. Even then it should be used lightly. If you think he has started to prod holes and bash it in with a hammer etc he could be liable for damages.
At our place we are looking for reasons to pass a vehicle not to fail it. Shame everyone isn't using the same logic. As for body mounts..... there is twelve of fourteen body mounts on a disco so even if 50% of them are missing if the body isn't at risk of "falling off on a corner" its a pass and advise. I put money on it your bushes were a pass too.
