hi guys, just wondering if you lot can help me. ive got a 54 plate facelift freelander 1 and only bought it last wednesday. it was a bit of a bargain and the guy i bought it of took it as part ex for his bmw, and didnt want the freelander.

anyway, its got an electrical fault, involving all the lights and the 40a slow blow fuse under the bonnet. when the lights are switched on, it seems to be fine for 15 mins, then all lights go out! ive checked the tailgate wiring loom and that was all fine, and ive checked all bulb holders and cleaned them up, even if they didnt need doing.

is there a place where the wiring loom lays on the bodyshell and has a common place for it to rub through and short out?

any help would be massively appreciated. cheers :D

Has it a towbar? Often gives problem, also bad earthing can soon send current to places that don't want it

The 40 Amp fuse doesn't go that far before it's split into smaller fuse values. These smaller fuses are in the inside fuse box. This suggests that there is a wiring fault between the engine bay and internal fuse box. Good hunting;)
